Alleen de Havens zijn ons Trouw is about the search for belonging in Rave culture, resulting in a collage of images and thoughts floating by, without aspiring a comprehending narrative. The film contemplates the desire to drown in the nightlife of Rotterdam and the need to oppose the rational structures of daily life, all the whilst escaping grey academic theory by using film. As in film, on the dancefloor everything can be smoothed out. Sometimes it feels as if you are dancing in slow motion. This transcendent feeling on the dancefloor stays forever; a home that does not perish with time. And of course, it is fabricated. Artificial. But does that make it any less real?
